- Argyle, Minnesota: https://ci.argyle.mn.us/residential-lots-for-sale/ The City of Argyle is offering free lots to anyone building a home within one year, with title to transfer at the time of construction.
- Middle River, Minnesota: https://middle-river.com/housing-lots-for-sale/ 100’ X 300’ (.68 acres) FREE LOT, FREE Building Permit, 2 Years FREE Basic Water and Sewer, and many other incentives linked on the website.
- Lincoln, Kansas: https://www.livelincolncounty.com/free-lots-residential/ 14,000 (.32 acres) to 35,000 (.80 acres)sq ft. The primary design criteria for building on any of the lots include the house having a minimum footprint of 1300 sq. ft. (exclusive of basements, garages, porches, etc) for a one-story house and 900 sq. ft. for a two-story house. Each house shall have a 2-car garage, be on a permanent foundation, have a minimum roof slope of 5:12 pitch, and overhang no less than 12 inches.
- Mankato, Kansas: https://www.mankatoks.com/free-land 26 lots in the Johnson addition. Construction shall be a single-family unit built on-site or modular construction. Construction must be a minimum of 1200 sq ft.
- Plainville, Kansas: https://rookscounty.net/free_homesites/ Lots are 155′ X 93′ (.33 acres). Homes must be new construction with a full foundation.
- Osborne, Kansas: https://www.discoverosborne.com/free-home-lots-application-guidelines/ No cost residential housing lots in the Sunset Addition. Building complete within 24 months, a minimum of 1,400 sq ft on ground level.
- Manilla, Iowa: https://www.manillaia.com/business.asp?key=3 16 single-family lots in the Sunrise Second Addition. Must build a single-family residence on the lot.
- Curtis, Nebraska: https://www.curtis-ne.gov/economicdevelopment Construct a single-family home in Curtis (meeting certain specifications) within a specified time period and receive the lot for free. Also offers free industrial or commercial land for businesses relocating.
- Beatrice, Nebraska: https://www.beatrice.ne.gov/community-development/page/mow-own-program Mow-to-own program. Maintain a vacant, city-owned lot and get the opportunity to acquire it. Open to residents of Gage County, Nebraska, and surrounding counties.
- Elwood, Nebraska: https://www.elwoodnebraska.com/freelots.html 110’ x 115’ (.29 acres) lots, must be built on and occupied within 2 years. Must be owner-occupied residential constructions.
- Flagler, Colorado: https://flaglercolorado.com/freeland/ Only for businesses that will offer employment opportunities to the community.
- Buffalo, New York: https://www.buffalony.gov/306/Urban-Homestead-Program Urban Homestead Program. Must be a resident of the city. Two land options: Vacant Lot Next to Existing Residence, and Vacant Lot(s) for New Home Construction.
